Saluki Swim Club Wins the 2009 Swim Your Own Age Meet              October 25, 2009

 

          The first home meet for Saluki Swim Club was a successful one with the Saluki swimmers winning the meet with 1093.5 points.  Rend Lake finished second with 628.5, Gator Swim Team was third with 339, Centralia was fourth with 238, Sevier Aquatic Club was fifth with 31 and Anderson Community Aquatic Club was sixth with 28 points. 

          In all sixty-one Saluki Swim Club swimmers competed and achieved best times in 82% of their races.  Fifteen swimmers (Sara Coello, Camille Davis, Braci Dutton, Calvin Kolar, Ashlee Kuan, Cameron Kuan, Courtney McCoskey, Austyn Sigler, Taylor Stanhouse, Austin Stogsdill, Jacob Stone, Emily Stroud, Steven Thompson, Kelsie Walker, and Daniel Yang) swam fast enough to qualify for the Ozark Championships in 29 events.  Calvin Kolar also qualified for the Sectional Championships in the 100 breast.  All together, Saluki swimmers achieved 45 B times, 40 BB times, 6 A times, and 8 AA times.

        Saluki Swimmers who finished in the top 8 in their age group included:

Bethany Akinduro – 9 years old- 3rd in the 50 breast, 7th in the 50 back, and 8th in the 50 free

          Andrew Allen – 13 years old – 2nd in the 100 breast and 4th in the 100 fly, 100 back, and 100 free.

          Aidan Anthony – 9 years old – 5th in the 50 breast and 6th in the 50 back and 50 free.

          Chloe Bailey – 8 years old – 5th in the 25 fly, 25 back and 25 free and 6th in the 25 breast.

          Cody Bailey – 13 years old – 1st in the 100 fly, 100 back, and 100 free and 5th in the 100 breast.

          Parker Barden – 8 years old – 2nd in the 25 back and 25 free.

          Gabriela Benyas – 7 years old – 7th in the 25 free and 8th in the 25 back

          Adam Blake – 9 years old – 7th in the 50 back.

          Ryan Burgener – 16 years old – 4th in the 100 breast and 5th in the 100 fly, 100 back and 100 free.

          Emma Chvatal – 9 years old – 6th in the 50 back, 50 breast and 7th in the 50 fly, 50 free.

          Amelia Coello – 12 years old – 3rd in the 50 breast, 4th in the 50 back and 50 free, and 5th in the 50 fly.

          Louisa Coello – 10 years old – 6th in the 50 fly and 7th in the 50 back, 50 breast and 50 free.

          Sara Coello – 13 years old – 5th in the 100 fly and 8th in the 100 back.

          Simone Corpora – 14th years old – 1st in the 100 fly, 100 free and 2nd in the 100 back, 100 breast.

          Harley Crawshaw – 11 years old – 3rd in the 50 fly and 50 free, 4th in the 50 back, and 5th in the 50 breast.

          Camille Davis – 15 years old – 1st in the 100 fly, 100 back, and 100 free and 3rd in the 100 breast.

          Ian Davis – 12 years old – 6th in the 50 back, 50 breast, and 50 free.

          Braci Dutton – 15 years old – 2nd in the 100 free, 3rd in the 100 fly and 100 back, and 7th in the 100 breast.

          Charlee Furlow – 11 years old – 3rd in the 50 breast and 6th in the 50 free.

          Annika Gally – 7 years old – 2nd in the 25 back, 25 breast and 25 free.

          Rohini Gupta – 14 years old – 3rd in the 100 back, 100 breast, and 100 free.

          Ryan Hall – 15 years old – 2nd in the 100 fly, 100 back and 3rd in the 100 breast, 100 free.

          Sarah Hall – 17 years old – 2nd in the 100 fly, 100 back, 100 breast, and 100 free.

          Daniel Henley – 11 years old – 3rd in the 50 fly, 50 back, and 50 breast and 4th in the 50 free.

          Steven Thompson – 10 years old – 2nd in the 50 fly, 3rd in the 50 free, 4th in the 50 breast, and 5th in the 50 back.

          Tyler Underwood – 12 years old – 5th in the 50 fly, 50 back, 50 breast, and 50 free.

          Kelsie Walker – 13 years old – 3rd in the 100 free and 4th in the 100 fly, 100 back, and 100 breast.

          Kyle Walker – 16 years old – 2nd in the 100 back, 100 free, 3rd in the 100 breast, and 4th in the 100 fly.

          Sadie Whiles – 8 years old – 5th in the 25 breast and 6th in the 25 back and 25 free.

          Daniel Yang – 12 years old – 2nd in the 50 breast and 4th in the 50 fly, 50 back, and 50 free.

          Joyce Yang – 8 years old – 1st in the 25 breast, 3rd in the 25 back, and 4th in the 25 fly and 15 free.

          Taylor Yucus – 11 years old – 1st and 50 breast and 2nd in the 50 fly, 50 back and 50 free.

 

          Saluki Swim Club will compete again in November in Carbondale in Carbondale 500 Invitational.

Saluki Swimmers Start the Season Off With a Strong Performance in St. Peters    October, 2009

            Eighteen Saluki Swim Club Swimmers participated in the 2009 Fall Festival Invitational last weekend in St. Peters, MO.  This meet marked the first competition for the team in the 2009-2010 Short Course Season.  As a team, Saluki swimmers swam really well.  Two swimmers, Elizabeth Bell and Kelsie Walker, qualified for the Sectional Championships in 8 events.  Nine swimmers, Elizabeth Bell, Stephen Cohen, Camille Davis, Sarah Hall, Ashlee Kuan, Cameron Kuan, Darlene Sao, Jacob Stone, and Kelsie Walker, qualified for the Ozark Championships in 39 events.  In all the swimmers achieved lifetime best times in 58% of their races, 37 B times, 33 BB times, 12 A times, 10 AA times, 2 AAA times, and 2 AAAA times.  Several Saluki swimmers had individual performances that rank in the Top 5 all time for Saluki Swim Club in their age groups.  Elizabeth Bell set a new team record in the 200 Individual Medley, Jacob Stone achieved Saluki Top 5 times in the 100 back, 100 breast, 50 and 200 free, and Kelsie Walker achieved a Saluki Top 5 time in the 200 fly.

            Saluki Swim Club swimmers who finished in the Top 16 in individual events in the meet and scored points included:  Elizabeth Bell (17 years old) – 1st in the 100 breast, 100 fly, 50 and 100 free, 2nd in the 200 IM, 3rd in the 100 back and 200 breast, and 4th in the 200 free; Stephen Cohen (17 years old) – 3rd in the 200 breast, 7th in the 100 breast and 200 IM, 8th in the 50 free, 10th in the 200 free, 11th in the 100 free, 12th in the 100 fly, and 14th in the 100 back;  Camille Davis (15 years old) – 4th in the 100 and 200 back, and 13th in the 100 free; Ryan Hall (15 years old) – 4th in the 200 fly and 12th in the 200 back;  Sarah Hall (17 year old) – 8th in the 200 fly;  Jared King (16 years old) – 5th in the 200 breast and 12th in the 100 breast;  Ashlee Kuan (13 years old) – 8th in the 200 breast, 100 and 200 back, 13th in the 200 fly, 15th in the 100 fly, and 16th in the 200 free;  Cameron Kuan (10 year old) – 4th in the 100 IM, 50 back, and 200 free, 5th in the 50 and 100 free, 6th in the 100 back, 7th in the 100 breast, and 9th in the 50 breast; Natalie San (16 years old) – 16th in the 100 breast; Darlene Sao (16 years old) – 14th in the 50 free, 15th in the 100 breast, and 16th in the 200 free; Taylor Stanhouse (16 years old) – 16th in the 200 breast; Jacob Stone (12 years old) – 1st in the 50 breast, 2nd in the 100 breast, 50, 100, and 200 free, 3rd in the 100 IM and 100 back, and 4th in the 100 fly; Tyler Underwood (12 years old) – 12th in the 100 back, 14th in the 100 breast and 200 free, 15th in the 50 back and 16th in the 50 free; Kelsie Walker (13 years old) – 1st in the 200 fly, 4th in the 200 free, 5th in the 50 free, and 9th in the 100 back; Kyle Walker (16 years old) – 15th in the 200 free and 16th in the 100 back.

            Saluki Swim Club relays scoring in the meet include:  The relay team of Camille Davis, Elizabeth Bell, Sarah Hall, and Taylor Stanhouse finished 4th in the 200 medley relay;  the relay team of Darlene Sao, Taylor Stanhouse, Camille Davis, and Elizabeth Bell finished 3rd in the 200 free relay; the relay team of Stephen Cohen, Jared King, Ryan Hall, and Kyle Walker finished 4th in the 200 free relay.
